To accomplish one or more of the obove objects, there is provided a keyboard with a remote control function including a keyboard unit for communicating with a main computer unit by using signal lines connected therebetween and for generating a re-send signal when a communication request signal for remote control is provided from the main computer unit.
A remote control receiver detects the re-send signal to generate a control signal.
In response to the control signal, a communication control section controls a communication of the keyboard unit with the main computer unit through the signal lines, so as to allow the remote control receiver to receive information for redefining a key function for remote control from the main computer unit
