An optical recording medium having a substrate, an optical recording layer formed on the substrate, and at least one film consisting of a carbide and a nitride and formed on the substrate.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION It is an object of the present invention to provide an optical recording medium which is more excellent in corrosion resistance than the recording mediums according to the prior art.
Such object of the present invention is achieved by an optical recording medium characterized by at least an optical recording layer and a film consisting of a carbide and a nitride provided on a substrate.
The carbide may preferably be silicon carbide.
The carbide and the nitride may be used variously if they are transparent and excellent in corrosion resistance when they are formed into a film.
They may be, for example, silicon carbide (SiC) and silicon nitride (Si.
sub.
3 N.
sub.
4), or SiC and aluminum nitride (AlN).
