A hydraulic connector apparatus includes a first cylindrical tubular member having a first hydraulic port disposed in a radially outer surface thereof, and a second cylindrical tubular member having a second hydraulic port disposed in a radially inner surface thereof. A first cylindrical sliding sleeve valve is disposed about said first tubular member and movable relative to said first tubular member between open and closed positions wherein said first port is open and closed, respectively. A second cylindrical sliding sleeve valve is disposed within said radially inner surface of said second cylindrical tubular member and movable relative to said second tubular member between open and closed positions wherein said second port is open and closed, respectively. An interconnecting structure is provided for moving said first and second sliding sleeve valves to their respective open positions when said first tubular member is inserted in said second tubular member by movement of said first tubular member in a first direction relative to said second tubular member, and for moving said first and second sliding sleeve valves to their respective closed positions when said first tubular member is withdrawn from said second tubular member.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION What is claimed is: 1.
A hydraulic connector apparatus, comprising: a first cylindrical tubular member having a first hydraulic port disposed in a radially outer surface thereof; a second cylindrical tubular member having a second hydraulic port disposed in a radially inner surface thereof; a first cylindrical sliding sleeve valve disposed about said first tubular member and movable relative to said first tubular member between open and closed positions wherein said first port is open and closed, respectively; a second cylindrical sliding sleeve valve disposed within said radially inner surface of said second cylindrical tubular member and movable relative to said second tubular member between open and closed positions wherein said second port is open and closed, respectively; and interconnecting means, operably associated with said first and second sliding sleeve valves, for moving said first and second sliding sleeve valves to their respective open positions when said first tubular member is inserted in said second tubular member by movement of said first tubular member in a first direction relative to said second tubular member.
2.
The apparatus of claim 1, wherein: said first cylindrical sliding sleeve valve has a first valve port disposed therein for communication with said first port of said first tubular member when said first sleeve valve is in its said open position; said second cylindrical sliding sleeve valve has a second valve port disposed therein for communication with said second port of said second tubular member when said second sleeve valve is in its said open position; and said first and second sleeve valves are so arranged and constructed that said first and second valve ports are in communication with each other when said first and second sleeve valves are in their respective open positions.
3.
The apparatus of claim 1, wherein: said interconnecting means includes first engagement means on said first sleeve valve for engaging said second sleeve valve and holding said first sleeve valve relative to said second sleeve valve as said first tubular member is moved in said first direction relative to said first and second sleeve valves to open said first sleeve valve
