sub.
2 is a divalent aromatic group wherein the substituents X and CO are in para or ortho position relative to each other, Ar.
sub.
3 is a residue of a dihydric phenol, X and Y are halogen, n is an integer of 1 to 50 and X is one or greater.
2.
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein the ingredients in steps (a) and (b) are simultaneously added to a reactor.
3.
A process as defined in claim 1 in which steps (a) and (b) are carried out in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst.
4.
A process as defined in claim 3 wherein the Friedel-Crafts catalyst is selected from aluminum chloride, antimony pentachloride, or ferric chloride.
