A corrosion inhibitor for use in aqueous and liquid alcohol compositions is described comprising the combination of: (a) an alkylbenzoic acid or the alkali metal, ammonium, or amine salt thereof, said acid having the general formula ##STR1## where R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl radical; (b) a C.sub.8 -C.sub.12 aliphatic monobasic acid or the alkali metal, ammonium, or amine salt thereof; and (c) a hydrocarbyl triazole. Aqueous compositions containing the above-described corrosion inhibitor as well as antifreeze/coolant concentrate and aqueous antifreeze/coolant compositions containing said corrosion inhibitor are also described. The corrosion-inhibitor of the instant invention gives synergistic corrosion protection to metal surfaces as compared with compositions containing either the alkylbenzoic or aliphatic monobasic acid component alone. |
