DETAILED DESCRIPTION We claim: 1.
An 8-alkyl-5-oxo-5,8-dihydro-pyrido(2,3-d)-pyrimidine-6-carboxylic acid of the formula: ##SPC24## wherein: - R' is lower alkyl radical and R is of formula ##SPC25## in which n is 0, 1, 2, or 3, and R.

3 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, vinyl, phenyl or phenyl substituted by halogen or lower alkoxy, the term "lower alkyl, lower alkoxy" meaning a radical with 1 to 5 carbon atoms.

An acid as claimed in claim 1 which is 2-(4-methyl-piperazino)-5-oxo-8-ethyl-5,8-dihydro-pyrido(2,3-d)pyrimidine- 6-carboxylic acid.

An acid as claimed in claim 1 which is 2-piperazino-5-oxo-8-ethyl-5,8-dihydro-pyrido(2,3-d)-pyrimidine-6-carboxyl ic acid.
